Despite the public image of Russian President being depicted as one who has worked as a gallery slave and is poorly paid, his official income as reported was $187,000 last year. Surprisingly, his official assets are limited to a small apartment along with three cars.

Though speculations about Putin’s financial worth is still speculative, his keen interest in political happenings in Syria has once again rekindled the world’s interests in wealth that Putin owns.

In Russia it is common to hold wealth through frontmen, offshore accounts and sell companies. This is the reason for which no one has been able to speculate with precision on the net worth of Vladimir Putin. Putin has long denied that he does have significant wealth but his political opponents have always been raising hue and cry over the fortunes owned by the Russian President.

Russian political analyst, Stanislav Belkovsky estimates that fortunes of Vladimir Putin could be well over $40 billion. According to Belkovsky, the Russian President has share holdings in oil and gas companies in Russia.

The Presidential perks are also substantial, if these could be considered towards the benefits that Vladimir Putin enjoys. A fleet of cars, boats and planes are always at disposal of Vladimir Putin, owing to him be the President of Russia.

Sources point out that Putin has over 20 homes, four yachts, fleet of aircrafts, helicopters, airbus and a $18 million cabin that has outfitting done by a jeweler.
