Forbidden fruit with self-defense devices

With a slightly sinister and unmistakably mischievous tone, british designer Kyle Bean materializes ‘forbidden fruit’ as a series of dangerously armed produce, bearing unusual self defense mechanisms.
Photographed for latest issue of The Gourmand Magazine in collaboration with photographer aaron tilley, bean has composed five visualizations of the guarded garden greens: a pear’s prickly pins protrude from its smooth skin, circular saw blades slice into an oversized watermelon, barbed wire barricades a banana, razor sharp blades puncture a juicy red apple, and a fiery blaze of flames engulfs a grapefruit. Each snack embodies its own spunky and edgy style, while its protective personality seems to divulge secrets about a ‘dark side’ of fruit.
